If you missed the seminar, print out our comprehensive list by clicking here and get busy!!! Fresh For Fall Seminars 2009 by Knollwood on September 7, 2009 at 12:00pm Ah, fall! Crisp cool air, a different color of sunlight, and changing colors in the garden. The same cool air that will start nipping at our annuals brings out the best in autumn favorites such as hardy mums, pansies, ornamental cabbage and kale, and more. And while you are at it, add some clusters of colorful bulbs for a pleasant surprise next spring.
It only takes a few moments to enhance the harvest look with pumpkins, gourds, cornshocks, and Indian corn clustered on your porch steps or tucked in around your mailbox plantings.
We will discuss and demonstrate many of these ideas throughout our Fall Seminar Series....check out the full schedule, and call to register! Are You A Pumpkin Eater? by Knollwood on September 7, 2009 at 12:00am What's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word "Pumpkin"?
If you are like us, it's probably PIE!
Pumpkins, gourds, and colorful corn make quick and easy fall decorations, but pumpkins have the added benefit of being delicious (and good for you). Sure, you can get pumpkin meat from a can, but it is so simple to make fresh pumpkin for pies, soups, breads and more that you really should try it. And a can doesn't give you tasty seeds to roast and munch while the pie bakes!
Try these recipes from Elise at SimplyRecipes.com...her recipes are always great! Pumpkin Puree and Pie, Roasted Pumpkin Seeds, and many more.
Sugar Pie Pumpkins are available now, along with Jack o'Lanterns, Indian corn, gourds and more for fall decorating.

Garden Classics: Hardy Mums by Knollwood on August 16, 2009 at 12:00am A staple in the fall garden, mums bring big bursts of autumn color just when we need it most. The plants begin growing in early spring, and with minimal maintenance are ready to flower just as many of our summer favorites are fading. Knollwood grows your garden mums all summer, so in the fall you can plant established plants, primed for flowering, just where you need them. Each variety has its typical bloom time: click to see our selection of Early to Mid Season and Late Season varieties.
Yoder Brothers, an 80+ year old company dedicated to horticulture and research, founded right here in Ohio by two Mennonite brothers, provides over 80% of the mums grown and sold in the U.S. All of our mums are Yoder mums, and their website is an excellent resource about growing garden mums.

Fall Gardening by Knollwood on November 10, 2007 at 12:00am Our weather has finally turned cooler and the fall rains are softening the ground. Before the deep chill sets in for good, we are all trying to tie up the loose ends of the gardening season. There's clean-up, of course, storing containers, fountains and birdbaths, winterizing ponds, and the last rounds of fertilizing the lawn for spring. The really fun part as we deal with the ends of our summer gardens is planning for next year: making notes about which annuals we don't want to forget next year (and which ones we do!), planting bulbs for an early spring "surprise", and marking perennials for division and replanting at first sprout. HGTV has a nice checklist of "to-dos". What are your fall gardening tips? Leave a comment below and share your ideas with all of us!
