Call For Entries!
Do you have a creative side? Combine your love for gardening and nature with some early holiday thoughts and submit an arrangement or two...you don't have to be a garden club member to participate!

Every year, at Knollwood's Annual Christmas Open House, the Greene County Association of Garden Clubs sponsors a holiday-themed flower show. Held on November 14 and 15 this year, and open to anyone, it is a fun and inspiring display of flower arrangements in various categories. Click here for a printable description of classes and rules.
Ribbons are awarded: enter your own design, or just be sure to stop by and see the creativity of your neighbors.

Reservations for artistic classes must be made by November 12, 2009. The contact person for reservations is show chairman, Joni Duncan, 427-8974, (cell) 776-7409 or duncanjoni@yahoo.com.

Ikebana Classes
Simple, yet meaningful: Ikebana, one of the traditional arts of Japan, has been practiced for more than 600 years. In contrast to the massing of blooms typical of Western flower arrangements, Japanese flower arrangement is based on the line of twigs and/or leaves, filled in with a small number of blooms, considered in some schools to symbolize heaven, earth, and man. Ikebana
Simple, yet meaningful: Ikebana, one of the traditional arts of Japan, has been practiced for more than 600 years. It developed from the Buddhist ritual of offering flowers to the spirits of the dead. In contrast to the massing of blooms typical of Western flower arrangements, Japanese flower arrangement is based on the line of twigs and/or leaves, filled in with a small number of blooms. The structure of a Japanese flower arrangement is based on a scalene triangle delineated by three main points, usually twigs, considered in some schools to symbolize heaven, earth, and man.
