Garden Classics: Hardy Mums
A staple in the fall garden, mums bring big bursts of autumn color just when we need it most. The plants begin growing in early spring, and with minimal maintenance are ready to flower just as many of our summer favorites are fading. Knollwood grows your garden mums all summer, so in the fall you can plant established plants, primed for flowering, just where you need them. Each variety has its typical bloom time: click to see our selection of Early to Mid Season and Late Season varieties. Yoder Brothers, an 80+ year old company dedicated to horticulture and research, founded right here in Ohio by two Mennonite brothers, provides over 80% of the mums grown and sold in the U.S. All of our mums are Yoder mums, and their website is an excellent resource about growing garden mums. How do you use garden mums? What are your favorite colors and combinations using garden mums? Let us know by leaving a comment here!
