Upcoming Seminar: Pollinator Plants from The Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Gardens

June 8, 2016

We know your summer is getting busy, but mark your calendar for this upcoming event:
On Saturday, June 25 at 10:00 am, Steve Foltz (Director of Horticulture for the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens) will join us at Knollwood to talk about how the Pollinator Plants program got started and the process they go through while trialing new varieties.  He plans to do a walk-and-talk presentation to highlight many of the great pollinator plants available to you!  Steve has a wealth of knowledge and experience to share, so don't miss it!

When was the last time you went to the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens?  It's worth a trip just for the beautiful gardens the cultivate, but they do so much more than just plant pretty flower beds:
They have been "trialing" plants for over 25 years, tracking and determining which varieties work best with our soil and weather conditions, as well as which are most favored by pollinators such as bees and butterflies.  The information they gather is useful to home gardeners and local growers alike, and now they have developed a collection of plants grown by local growers; a portion of the proceeds help support the Botanical Gardens.
